Biography

Rick - Guitar/Lead Vocals
Reu - Drums
Steve - Bass/Vocals

Conceived in February '97, Rick Reu and Steve are quick to admit that they don't shy away from tackling subjects most would run from.
Live favourite "Brother Sister" deals with the sexual obsession of incest. Not your usual everyday issue for sure! ..and new single "Adolescence" which hits the streets on March 14th, deals with the subject of teenage sex.
The willowy frontman's quick to point out that most perverse or disturbing subjects prove rich in inspirational fodder for his lyrics. Rick muses "extreme emotions, you know; weird love or compulsive obsessive behaviour best describes where I think our generation is at. It's a case of extremes really.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a deviant!, but these subjects make people uneasy, and I like that!"

Having been described fondly by the NME as "three rum tykes", Ketterings' firstborn guitar-baiters The Junket have already caused a stir in the loins of many a music critic.
They've seen a clutch of singles released as well as a mini-album, "Stamina", released through Deceptive Records in January '99. They scoured the UK on a toilet tour that would make Mega City Four blush and returned home to concentrate on new material for their debut long player.
Currently promoting their new single "Adolessence", released through Lime Street Records on March 20th, as well as picking up support from Radio 1's Evening Session and XFM, this single has gained the band their first daytime exposure on the Mark and Lard show.

Last year saw The Junket win over many fans with their extensive touring and the release of their first fruits the feisty Deceptive mini album "Stamina", reaching number 4 in the indie chart. For The Junket "Lux Safari" is the next step in their continual onward progression. It has enabled then to display the vast spectrum of styles within their unusually broad sound, whilst still very much incorporating the trademark angular edgy live dynamics throughout, making for as fresher a sounding debut as any.

Junket (jun'kit) n. 3. an excursion for pleasure.

Being no strangers to the live circuit, they've continually proved themselves as a very capable guitar outfit. Having supported Mansun and Idlewild in the past has helped shunt them into the media limelight, with various media types giving praise and support. January '00 witnessed them as "gig of the week" on the Radio 1 Evening Session, where Steve Lamacq and his posse promptly turned up, recorded live interviews with the audience and then raved about it! For nights!

They've also contributed a studio version of the live favourite "Brother/Sister" to the new fierce panda 6-tracker aptly titled "Cutting Hedge" for release on the esoteric fierce panda label.
They've recently penned themselves a deal with Philter Records in Japan and are currently viewing offers for singles in America. Not a bad position to be in, considering the currently lack of stability within the major sector of the music industry.

The Junket have worked persistently and consistently towards a firm and loyal fanbase collected over the past two years of touring. With small indie releases along the way, they continue to nudge themselves forward into the face of the UK's music press to interest and praise.

Radio 1's Steve Lamacq has continued to shower the trio with praise and support and XFM playlisted their new single "Adolescence" upon its first playlist meeting.

Expect 2000 to be a big year for this band, they've worked hard to be where they are, and no-one's going to take that away from them....
