Working Practices

The first step is to set up a free 'studio consultation'. This is a posh way of saying, that we all meet at the studio, drink coffee, & discuss how you want your recording to be made.

If you're a band, it's great if you can all show up, & if you have management, please bring them too.

Much as we'd love to give fixed prices for 'recording five songs', regardless of how long it takes, we sadly wouldn't stay in business long if the band wanted to take all year;)

However, we have come up with a great compromise, which avoids less mercenary 'charging by the hour'. Subject to watching the band rehearse, we will agree together, a realistic number of days that the whole project should take, & allocate time for recording & mixing.

The concept here is simple:

- If the band wish to spend extra time recording the agreed number of songs, then they pay for the extra studio time (but at the cheapest weekly rate)...
- But If we take longer than the agreed amount of time to mix the project (up to a realistic number of mix revisions), then there is no extra charge. This means, that once the recording/overdubbing side of the project is finished, the cost is fixed.

Alternative Options

The thrust of what we do here is producing E/P's & Album projects, usually spanning weeks rather than hours, however we can also operate is two other ways:

1. Booking time by the day/hour: This is often appropriate for very simple/short jobs. Examples include:

- voice/dialog recording
- Alternative edits of existing material, where the idea is to get in & out with the minimum of fuss

2. Renting out the studio by the Day/Week to outside engineers or producers (subject to a meeting & approval process).

This is a fantastic option if you are already an experienced engineer/producer, who wants to produce an act, and just needs a well equipped studio to record in. We hire out the studio to you, at greatly reduced rate, & you are free to charge the band/artist what you wish on top of the studio bill. Typically we will help out for the first day, whilst you find your way around our layout.

Call or mail for current rates & a meeting. you might be pleasantly surprised at how affordable we are.
